1.5Lダウンサイジングターボを搭載

2011年11月に新世代パワートレイン技術「アース･ドリームス･テクノロジー」を展開していくことを大々的に発表したホンダ。このプロジェクト、当初の予定から大幅な見直しが検討されているようだ。

アース･ドリームス･テクノロジーは、下から660cc、1.3～1.5L、1.8～2L、2.4L、3.5Lというエンジンラインナップが予定されていた。これらの中で660ccはすでにN-BOXで実用化され、2.4Lも北米で先行発表されたアコードに搭載されている。

間を埋める1.3～1.5Lと1.8～2Lも次々に量産車に搭載されると思われたが、なんと1.8～2Lの開発が大幅に縮小された。5ナンバー枠いっぱいのボディサイズを採用する車にとっては欠かせない排気量ゾーンのはずだが……。

この排気量といえば、ステップワゴン（写真右上）が思い当たる。果たして次期型ではどのようなユニットが採用されるのだろうか。

どうやらホンダは1.5Lクラスのエンジンに加給器を搭載して、1.8～2Lクラスの代替ユニットとする模様。1.5L直噴ターボをバリエーションの中核に据える作戦に打って出る。フォルクスワーゲンのTSIエンジン（写真右下）と同じ、ダウンサイジングターボの発想だ。果たして、次期モデル発表予定の2014年秋に間に合うのだろうか。

もうひとつ気になるのは、ハイブリッド仕様。ライバルである次期ノア／ヴォクシーがハイブリッドを採用することは、File No.136でもお伝えした。当然、ステップワゴンにも用意される。こちらは開発が縮小された2Lユニットをアトキンソンサイクル（エンジン形式の一種）の直噴にすることで、ハイブリッドに最適なユニットに仕立てるようだ。

I was looking at the spec....and thinking why Honda never have turbo engine for so long......

I think the key is Honda use a different approach, indeed a more advance approach.
1) higher compression ratio (e.g. Honda Accord US vesion 2.4L engine 11.1:1, Subaru LEGACY 2.5GT HK version 9.5:1, Toyota Estima JP version 2.4L 9.8:1, Stepwgn JP version 2.0L engine 10.6:1)
2) direct injection

直噴ターボ＆ハイブリッドが投入される次期ステップワゴン

登場は1年後の2014年12月

ステップワゴンは、新たな特別仕様車を投入しながら、あと1年ほど現行モデルが継続される可能性が高い。5代目の登場は2014年12月ころになる予定だ。

次期モデルには、フィットから採用され始めた「ソリッドウイングフェイス」が与えられる。ヘッドランプとメッキグリルが横一文字に並びワイド感を強調。押し出しの強いフロントフェイスとなる。

パワートレインにも注目だ。エンジンは、これまでの2L NAに代わる主力ユニットとして開発されている新世代直噴ダウンサイジングターボの1.5Lユニットが採用される。

さらに、競合車に負けじとハイブリッドの開発も進められている。アコードハイブリッドに採用される2Lエンジンをゆずり受け、電気モーターとセットで搭載。ライバルのノア／ヴォクシーハイブリッドを超える燃費性能が目指されているに違いない。

ただし、ハイブリッドはモデルライフ後半に追加投入される見通し。オデッセイと同じく、デビュー時には姿を現さない。おそらく登場は2016年頃となるだろう。

ホンダは、この次期ステップワゴンと、中国で先行販売された次期ストリームをあわせ年間9万台の生産が目標だという。
